Dalaman Airport
Monograph of project
Published by YEM Yayın, İstanbul, 2007.
302 pp
ISBN: 9758599976

Dalaman Airport, started in 1999 and completed in 2006, is a monograph of a project; an architectural adventure. The terminal, which was opened in July 2006, was one of the 7 projects considered worthy of recognition in the “AR Awards for Emerging Architecture”. Emre Arolat and Gonca Paşolar tell the real story of the realisation of this project and show how it was completed so successfully despite the complex, tangled relations involved and the problems encountered. Architects will identify with the experiences described in this book while students and those new to the profession will find in it a wealth of knowledge.

Emre Arolat: Buildings / Projects 1998-2005
Monograph
Published by Literatür, İstanbul, 2005.

Despite his young age, Emre Arolat is a talent who has produced an incomparable number of buildings and has contributed greatly to architecture with his projects. After his long career with both his parents, here he experienced a process which has made a mark on Turkish architecture, the fact that he has now reached a stage where he is manifesting his own identity indicates the freshness of a new generation and the acquisition of a new voice.
I believe Emre Arolat is among the first ten architects to strengthen our hopes that Turkish architecture, which unfortunately has not been realized enough yet, will open up to the international architectural community.
The Minicity Model Park in Antalya was among 35 quality structures selected to be exhibited among projects presented to the 2005 European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture organized by the Mies van der Rohe Foundation, which were evaluated by a jury on which I sat and which was chaired by Zaha Hadid; this gives notice that Emre Arolat has entered the international architectural community not by competing but by being chosen.
To be set off through such selections, to gain confidence through local and international projects, and to gain prestige through such a monograph will both open up new prospects to him and give him new opportunities and also new responsibilities. And we will expect him to keep doing even better. – Süha Özkan

…with regard to
Exhibition catalogue
Published by Milli Reasürans T.A.Ş., İstanbul, 2006.
256 pp
ISBN: 975723575X

The catalogue which was published in parallel to the ‘…with regard to’ exhibition, organised by Milli Reasürans Art Gallery in 2006, presents the productions of EAA design studio, having different scales and subjects, with a rich visual expression.Just as in the exhibition, for the sake of backing up the context, of bringing it into focus and reinforcing it, the products were brought together to form independent groups in the book as well. Other projects have found their place alone. The aim was to directly impart to the readers “with regard to” what and to which circumstances projects became specific while they were expected to resemble one another, to be derived from each other, or to show visual consistency; according to which criteria the abovementioned nonconformities and different parameters took their place in the design process and what kind of inputs and what criteria were given precedence.
